Research Position: Division of Cancer Biology and Department of Radiation Oncology, Emory University School of Medicine and the Winship Cancer Institute

Full time research technician positions are available for motivated senior undergraduate students interested in obtaining full-time training and experience in basic/translational research in the laboratories of Dr. Aparna Kesarwala and/or Dr. Alexandre Orthwein in the Division of Cancer Biology, Department of Radiation Oncology, Emory University School of Medicine and the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University.

The technician will be involved in projects studying different aspects of cancer biology, including metabolic rewiring and genome instability, and how this knowledge could be utilized to improve cancer therapy. Experimental approaches and techniques may include but are not limited to cell culture, immunofluorescence, Western blot analysis, DNA cloning, CRISPR/Cas9, siRNA knockdown, protein purification, and flow cytometry. The position will also involve general support work in the laboratory. Previous wet lab experience is preferred.

These positions would be ideal for candidates interested in gap year(s) research experience prior to application to medical or graduate school or MD/PhD programs. Drs. Kesarwala and Orthwein both have extensive mentoring experience and will provide direct guidance for the development of a personalized career development plan for the selected technician(s).
