Hi Emory students, we are excited to announce a new internship program within Premier Family Clinic, located in Chamblee, Georgia. We would love to have you apply to join us as an intern for the Fall! Applications are open now and will close on Wednesday, September 7th 2022 at 11:59 p.m.! Your responsibilities will include answering the phone, patient intake, calling in laboratory work for patients, triaging patients, schedule appointments, placing reminder calls for patients, and common administrative tasks. This will provide great, real-world experience in a primary care office that sees a diversity of patients and provide you with direct patient interaction. PrIMES Mentorship Program for Underrepresented PreMed Students (Free)

 


PrIMES is a national mentorship program for underrepresented premed students supported by Weill Cornell Medicine.  

Our program aims to help URiM premed Mentees overcome unique barriers and challenges to applying and matriculating into medical school by pairing them with current medical students or resident physicians as Mentors.  

PrIMES mission is to increase diversity in medical school education.


We are currently recruiting Mentees & Mentors for our 2022-2023 virtual Cohort and are working to increase awareness about this free opportunity. 

Emory University students are invited to apply to the program if interested.

Mandatory Check-Up Upcoming Sessions (Updated 9.2.22)

 




Attention, Sophomores!  Did you miss the first Mandatory Check-Up session earlier this week?  Not to worry; there are a few remaining sessions available throughout the Fall semester!

If you are planning to apply to medical, dental, optometry, or podiatry programs and seeking a Composite Letter, please attend one of the available sessions this semester.  The mandatory check-up must be completed in your sophomore year and is the first step of our three-part sophomore requirements.

Save the Date: Dr. Sherket B. Peterson Scholarship for URMs Pursuing Health Careers Application Opens August 15

 

 

Dr. Sherket B. Peterson, an MMEP alum, is excited to offer a funding opportunity to SHPEP, SMDEP, SMEP, and MMEP scholars! With the support of the ADEAGies Foundation and the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP), the Dr. Sherket B. Peterson Scholarship provides financial aid in the form of a $3000 scholarship and mentorship to further the education of underrepresented minority (URM) students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare. The scholarship honors program alumni who are interested in pursuing a career in a field that will enhance health research or innovation and have the potential to impact the world.

Award Information
One student will receive a $3000 award and one-year of mentorship. A portion of the award, $2500, will be distributed to the awardee’s US college or university on their behalf for tuition expenses and $500 will be distributed directly to the awardee for other educational expenses such as books and/or laptops, grad school applications, etc.

Eligibility Requirements
An applicant must:

  • Be enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college or university and have completed at least 2 years of undergraduate studies (rising juniors and above)
  • Maintain good academic standing
  • URM pursuing a career in healthcare
  • Be an alumnus of the program (SHPEP, SMDEP, SMEP, or MMEP) 
  • Demonstrate a drive to succeed in their pursuit of a health career, leadership, a passion to create change in their community
  • Demonstrate a commitment to advancing new ideas, concepts, approaches, policies, programs, technologies, potential treatments, or products, that improve healthcare and health disparities.
