Summer Program in Neuroscience at BU School of Medicine

The Summer Program in Neuroscience (SPIN) is an on-site, 8-week intensive program in neuroscience offered by the Departments of Neurosurgery, and Anatomy & Neurobiology at the Boston University School of Medicine.

SPIN students are exposed every day to the function and organization of the brain from a clinical perspective alongside neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists and neuropathologists in the clinic and in the operating room. These experiences are complemented by weekly small group neuroscience and neuroanatomy teaching using small group discussion, clinical cases, and human brain dissections. Finally, each student is paired with a clinical or research faculty member to pursue their own mentored research project. Students gain an unrivaled perspective on the brain from clinical, didactic, and scientific perspectives. Alumni go on to doctoral and medical programs and they report that SPIN has been "life changing" in how they think about the brain and their future.
