 Job Title: Orthopaedic Surgery Research Assistant/Coordinator 

Location: Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta – Scottish Rite Campus 

Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week, non-remote) with benefits 

Tentative Start Date: June/July 2024 

Job Description: The Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Department at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is looking to hire a new research assistant/coordinator for full-time employment on their research team. This role requires someone who is self-motivated and eager to learn and involves collaborating with the orthopedic surgeons and other research team members to help develop and manage all active and new research studies. This position is best fit for any recent graduates who are interested in medical school and are looking to gain invaluable clinical and research experience during their gap years (2 years strongly preferred). This position will also allow for ample opportunities to shadow in the OR and during clinic. 

Candidates must meet the below qualifications and be able to fulfill the following roles and responsibilities: 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, health-related, or business administration-related program or relevant experience in lieu of education 
  • Previous research experienced strongly preferred 
  • Proficient computer skills including working knowledge of PC and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) 
  • Self-directed and motivated to work independently toward short- and long-term goals 
  • Good communication, organization, and interpersonal skills as patient interactions are involved in this role 
  • Good working relationships with colleagues, subordinates, and superiors 
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, utilize, and update all internal and external protocols, data collection sheets, spreadsheets, and databases for use in gathering and compiling information specific to each research study 
  • Collaborate with other research members in all day-to-day responsibilities 
  • Be flexible with daily start and end times depending on surgery/clinic schedules as surgeries typically start in the early mornings 
  • Attend, complete, and keep up to date with certifications and/or all required training courses as expected of different studies/sites 
  • Attend conferences and meetings as needed which may be outside of typical work hours
