Empowerment Resource Center (ERC) is a non-profit, community-based organization, with a 501(C)(3) status. Established in 2003 and incorporated in 2006, ERC provides health-related program and services, more specifically HIV and sexually transmitted infection prevention education, risk reduction and family planning counseling, testing, referral, and treatment services, reproductive health services, substance abuse treatment and recovery services, mental health therapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication management, social services and primary medical case management, client advocacy and navigation services, and primary care linkages. ERC focuses on a broader array of services, assisting both individuals infected and affected by HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.

 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

ERC is seeking an individual who can assist with the coordination of exciting projects with a rapidly growing community-based organization with a focus on HIV and sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and treatment, research, prevention education, training, risk reduction counseling, referral services, and support services.

 

The intern will supplement ERC’s Comprehensive Intervention Clinic and Outreach departments in the provision HIV and STI testing services, health education and health literacy, risk reduction counseling, capacity building, client advocacy, and supportive services. The incumbent will be responsible for the facilitation of the client intake process, computer data entry, electronic health records, client eligibility standards, and primary care linkage to ensure that clients are: a) tested; b) treated; c) enrolled in care; and d) retained in care. Duties will include, but are not limited to, assistance with the development of formalized treatment plans, monitoring and evaluating non-clinical service delivery performance, data collection, analysis, and reporting, case reviews, process monitoring, data entry, client interviews, and development of a client referral resource list.

 

The incumbent will also rotate between various departments; learning how each impacts the overall work of ERC. The departments include but are not limited to: Outreach, Behavioral Health, Clinic, Process Monitoring, and Accounting.

 

Interns must maintain confidentiality and privacy of client information and ensure compliance with HIPAA laws, ERC policies and procedures, and Georgia regulatory requirements. Typical work activities include day-to-day clinical and non-clinical operations, planning long-term projects, maintaining records, conducting field studies and community outreach activities, program evaluation, examining public health data, and client interviewing. Other duties as assigned.
