We are reaching out with a research opportunity for undergraduate students interested in global health. Empower Through Health, a 501(c)3 organization working to innovate healthcare delivery in rural areas of low-income countries, is hosting the Global Health Experiential Fellowship in summer, 2023. It is an opportunity to receive research mentorship from global mental health practitioners at Yale University and to live and work alongside Ugandan undergraduate and master’s level students implementing a research project in the rural village of Mpunde, Eastern Uganda. Research projects will consist of exploring ways to reduce stigma and to improve mental health care delivery.
The program consists of five-weeks of immersion in rural Uganda, and fellows will have the option to continue their work after the fellowship to contribute to the data analysis and manuscript-writing process, leading students receiving co-authorship on the manuscript once it is published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal. This is an opportunity for students to develop transferable skills that will be valuable regardless of career path, but particularly for those interested in pursuing scientific research, medicine, or public health.
