Research Opportunity: Undergraduate Research Assistant Opportunity for Research about Long COVID Beginning Spring 2023

The Human Experience and Ambulatory Technologies (HEAT) Lab in the Emory School of Medicine is recruiting 4 undergraduate research assistants for newly funded research about Long COVID. Research assistants will be contributing to a systematic review project focused on identifying wearable technologies (e.g., smartwatches) that have clinical validity for monitoring cardiovascular symptoms of Long COVID. Systematic review is a research methodology for identifying all available scientific evidence about a particular topic and synthesizing this evidence into a single scholarly document. Dependent on interest, opportunities to work on other lab projects, present research at conferences, and for other professional development support (mentorship for future graduate/medical school applications) are available. Students will receive research training as part of this position, and although prior research experience is helpful, it is not required.

Research assistants will work directly with Deanna Kaplan, PhD, clinical health psychologist and Assistant Professor in Family and Preventive Medicine. Students can receive up to 4 credits of research lab experience (depending on the requirements of your degree program) per semester. Please note that this is an unpaid, for-credit-only position. A minimum commitment of 4 hrs/wk from January-August 2023 is required (up to 10 hrs/wk is possible if desired, but not a requirement). Work hours for this position are flexible and can be largely self-determined. Availability during summer 2023 is a requirement because of the project timeline, but remote work during the summer is permitted (ie, you do not need to physically be in Atlanta during the summer).

How to apply: Send a resume and letter of interest by November 30th to Deanna Kaplan at: deanna.m.kaplan@emory.edu.
