Pre-Med Webinar w/ Current Top-12 MD Students

Pre-meds need medical shadowing and other forms of clinical experience. However, opinions vary on how to obtain it, how many hours of it to aim for, and which types matter most. Additionally, when clinical experience is obtained abroad during breaks, students often question whether to shadow versus volunteer abroad.

Our webinar seeks to show one path towards achieving shadowing experiences: to pursue it in Europe during a school break, through organizations like Atlantis, which run observation-only, AAMC-compliant programs. This panel is made up of three current MD students at elite Top 12 universities, all of whom went through the MD application process after having spent a portion of their summer shadowing in a hospital in Europe.

The webinar will have two parts. First, it will start with a brief presentation by each presenter on (a) what their experience in Europe was like in comparison with US shadowing and clinical experience; and (b) how that experience was leveraged in applications and interviews. Second, there will be a Q&A where panelists can address questions about their shadowing experience, how shadowing (versus other extracurriculars) played a role in the application process, or any other MD application questions.

This webinar is relevant for any pre-health student in an MD path, but also to those considering the DO and PA paths as well, since much of the same dynamic is in place in those tracks. We hope you join us!
