We help pre-health professionals gain valuable paid clinical experience opportunities and provide Clinical Reasoning Skills Coaching at zero cost to the student. Our clinical experience opportunities are with home care agencies, in which the pre-health students will be providing care in the client’s home.
Due to the pandemic, the At-home care model took off, particularly when the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services expanded a program intended to provide more flexibility for health care systems to treat patients with COVID-19 and other acute conditions outside of overcrowded hospitals. This rapidly rising trend, demonstrates a need to have our future health care professionals familiar with the system and prepared to perform exceptionally well, whether in the At-Home or Hospital settings. We believe our clinical experience opportunities in the At-Home setting will be pivotal in this goal.
Clinical Experience further sets itself apart with the addition of a unique feature in the program that pairs the pre-health student, placed in a clinical experience work opportunity, with a Clinical Reasoning Skills Coach, who will teach and assess the pre-health students clinical skills. The pre-health student would witness a wide array of medical conditions and would gain a vast amount of knowledge about how to develop and sharpen their clinical reasoning skills.
As with the increase in the At-Home model of care, there has also been a rapid increase in the use of virtual, or tele-health, visits, which has only been exacerbated since the pandemic. Due to the new reliance on tele-health, it becomes imperative for many clinicians to develop skills to obtain objective information from these types of visits. An early start to sharpening skills to notice both overt and covert cues observed virtually will better prepare the student for telemedicine roles and generally for their healthcare career. For this reason, our clinical skills coaching will focus on 1.) history taking and 2.) virtual physical examination. Five body systems will be covered, namely, gastrointestinal, respiratory, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and neurological. Students will use their coaches as patients to practice their physical examination and history-taking skills. The coaches will carry out a formative assessment of their own students with respect to physical examination and history-taking skills.
We have been helping
students throughout Philadelphia since last year, 2020, however we recently
restructured our platform to be able to assist students country wide and make
finding opportunities more easier. We are building our student resume database,
while simultaneously, building our employer database on the backend. We want to
make every student aware of what we are offering. Interested students can
register and upload their resumes, again, at no charge.
