Clinical Research Analyst to the Shoulder and Elbow Service at the Medical University of South Carolina

The mission of the MUSC
Shoulder and Elbow Service is to provide regional, national, and international
leadership in the advancement of care for problems affecting the shoulder. This
mission is based on advancement of knowledge through research, improvement of
care through education of physicians, and clinical management of all problems
affecting the shoulder.
The goal of the MUSC Shoulder and Elbow Service is to be the preeminent shoulder and elbow center in the world.
Job Description
This full-time position is
best suited for recent college graduates currently pursuing a career in
medicine. The applicant should have a strong academic record, must be creative,
self-driven, reliable, and motivated to learn. The position offers the opportunity
for education and hands-on learning in the medical field.
The
candidate should expect to:
o Work
closely with Dr. Josef K. Eichinger, Dr. Richard J. Friedman, and MUSC
Orthopaedic Surgery Residents.
o Gain
familiarity working with clinical databases and grant-based research;
o Consent
patients and collect data in the clinic 1-2 days a week; observe surgery in the
operating room several times a week;
§ Surgical
cases include shoulder and elbow arthroscopy, total elbow arthroplasty, total
shoulder arthroplasty, rotator cuff repair, labral repair, tendon transfers,
ligament reconstructions, and fracture surgery
o Manage
ongoing research projects on the shoulder and elbow;
o Experience the clinical, operative, and academic aspects of medicine.
Responsibilities
·
Supporting physicians with
ongoing studies, projects, videos, papers and presentations
· Drafting
Institutional Review Board documentation for research studies
· Drafting
grant proposals for internal and extramural funding announcements
· Completing
data analysis and manuscript preparation for scientific publication
·
Recruiting patients and
collecting data for research studies.
·
Gathering patient images,
X-rays, as well as operative and clinical notes and videos
·
Assembling surgeon’s
presentations and case reports
