The Winship Cancer Institute Summer Undergraduate Volunteer Program is composed of a diverse group of committed undergraduate students who are interested in enhancing the quality of patient care as an integral part of the Winship team. Summer college volunteers have direct interaction with patients, their family members, and Winship staff while providing support and assistance in a variety of departments.
All summer college volunteers are required to serve for nine weeks and commit to a minimum of eight hours per week (72 hours in total). Additionally, all summer college volunteers must be able to provide their own housing. Participants also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of continuing educational sessions, interactions with staff members, events, and simulation lab.
In addition to completing 72 hours of service, all accepted applicants are required to attend a mandatory orientation, a minimum of two continuing education classes offered during the program and the closing program event.
The summer program runs from May 28 - July 31. For more information and to apply, visit their website: Winship Summer Volunteer Program. The deadline to apply is February 28, 2020.
