The Rush Summer Research Scholars Program is a 6-week summer research program where participants will have the opportunity to work on projects beyond the basic sciences. Scholars will work on a project in translational, clinical or community research, while being guided by faculty members as well as current medical and graduate students. At the end of the program, participants will present their final project outcomes to the Rush scientific community.
In addition to the research experience, all summer research
scholars participate in weekly activities to help prepare for applying
to medical school including career advising, admissions workshops,
community service, and more.
Eligibility requirements:
- Students from disadvantaged backgrounds and/or who are known to be underrepresented in medicine and health-related sciences
- College juniors, seniors (rising or graduating), and current students or graduates of a post-baccalaureate program in the basic sciences
- U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or students with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) status
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8
- Ability to reside in the Chicago area for the duration of the program (July 6-August 14, 2020)
