Emory HOPE Meeting: Approaching Death in Different Societies

How do different societies approach end-of-life-care? What constitutes a good death in different cultures? Attend the upcoming Emory HOPE GBM where Dr. Laderman, Chair of the Emory Religion Department, will help navigate these ideas through his extensive experience in death in American societies.

Gary Laderman, Chair and Goodrich C. White Professor of the American Religious History and Cultures, is the author of two books on death in America, The Sacred Remains: American Attitudes Toward Death, and Rest in Peace: A Cultural History of Death and the Funeral Home in Twentieth-Century America. He also has co-edited two encyclopedias, appeared in a variety of media interviews, and organized numerous conferences at Emory University. Dr. Laderman is a founder of the online religion magazine, Religion Dispatches.

Emory HOPE is an undergraduate group dedicated to connecting students to hospice volunteering opportunities and educating others about palliative care.
