U. Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine Summer Pipeline Programs

The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine is home to a variety of pipeline programs that prepare and inspire talented college students to pursue careers in medicine and in health-related research. All programs below seek students who come from disadvantaged backgrounds and/or who represent groups that are known to be underrepresented in health related sciences and medicine.

Chicago Academic Medicine Program (CAMP) I: A six-week program designed to help students build the knowledge base and academic skills necessary for success in a premedical program. This is a commuter program - housing is not provided.
Taught in a mini-medical school format, the CAMP program features clinical shadowing, service opportunities, group learning and team building projects, interactive lectures, and pre-medical advising and mentoring.

Chicago Academic Medicine Program (CAMP) II: An eight-week research, education, and mentoring experience where students will participate in basic science or clinical research projects, concluding with a research presentation forum. This is a commuter program - housing is not provided.
Taught in a mini-medical school format, the CAMP II program features weekly cluster group meetings, research and presentation guidance, mentor relationships with faculty and clinical lab staff, and pre-medical advising/mentoring (including MCAT prep).

Pritzker School of Medicine Experience in Research (PSOMER): An  eight-week research, education, and mentoring experience where students will participate in basic science or clinical research projects, concluding with a research presentation forum. This is a residential program. Housing will be provided for participants.

Students will participate in either basic science laboratories or clinical research projects throughout the duration of the program. Weekly cluster groups will support the laboratory research work of each participant. These groups will explore medical and research ethics, health care disparities, statistics and research tools. Students will also receive mentorship and guidance from Pritzker Medical School students and staff. This includes advising sessions with Pritzker admissions officers and social events with Pritzker andUniversity of Chicago summer research program students.  Students will not permitted to participate any formal or informal MCAT or application preparation process for medical school during the program. There will be considerable lab work to conduct and out-of-lab/classwork to prepare.
