Hospice Volunteering

Hospice volunteering is an incredibly meaningful service opportunity for pre-health students. Hospice volunteers provide comfort, peace, and care to patients and their families during the end of life. Serving terminally-ill patients and their families demonstrates the utmost commitment to healthcare, and will allow volunteers the chance to grow in their listening skills, cultural competency, resiliency, empathy and compassion. Moreover, hospice volunteering provides an opportunity for pre-health students to make a significant impact by provide patients and their families with compassionate care and support during the end-of-life process.
Interested in serving as a hospice volunteer over the summer? Check out the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization's (NHPCO) database to find a hospice location near you: https://www.nhpco.org/find-hospice.

There is also a student organization on campus that provides opportunities to engage in hospice volunteering. If you are interested in this type of work, make sure to connect with Emory HOPE (Hospice Outreach, Perspectives and Engagement).
