About the master’s degree programs:
The MSPH in Health Systems degree is ideal for those who are interested in roles in policy and planning, health financing and management, and monitoring and evaluation of health programs working in low- or middle-income countries. Graduates of the program contribute to strengthening health systems through the implementation of equitable and cost-effective interventions for improving access, quality and efficiency of health services for underserved populations internationally or domestically. The deadline to apply is January 15, 2022.
The MHS

global health problems. Through this degree program, students will learn how
health economic principles are used to address global issues such as migration,
displaced persons, climate change, and pandemics. Students will have the

Emory Helps Guatemala medical service team is a part of the Clinical Branch in the organization Health and Development in Guatemala at the Emory College of Arts and Sciences. The organization is currently recruiting student volunteers for an upcoming service trip.
In March 2020, we collaborated with Katherine Fuller, a clinical pharmacist at Emory, and Daniela Farchi, the team leader, in leading a 10-day medical service and community development team to Guatemala, through the parent organization Helps International. Our team provided medical care and health education to 698 patients and installed 40 stoves/water filters in the community development division.
We are working on
establishing a medical team for our next service trip with tentative dates June
3-13, 2022. We want to invite student majors to volunteer to provide public
health resources to communities around Santa LucÃa Utatlán, Sololá next summer
either by carrying out the educational workshops alongside clinicians or
building concrete stoves and installing water filters.
Interested individuals should fill out the Google Form (click the image) and/or may contact Kiara Vazquez Navarez at kiara.ailani.vazquez.narvaez@emory.edu.

Have you noticed the autumn colors over the past couple of weeks? This year autumn has not disappointed when it comes to the color palette on display. Walking through campus and seeing more people, driving around town, and certainly spending time out on my bike have all been opportunities to reflect on where I’ve been, where I’m going, but most importantly where I am.
As the Thanksgiving holiday nears, don’t forget to reflect a bit on those elements of time. Relative to the past, going home for Thanksgiving always means reconnecting with childhood friends, high school classmates and of course, family. Thinking about what comes after that long weekend is hard to avoid…papers, exams, interviews, waiting to hear about X, Y or Z options. But be sure to pay special attention to ‘now’. Live in the moment, and for the moment. As I got out and about in my neighborhood this brisk Monday morning on my bike, I noticed a maple tree that was full of bright red leaves just last week, now standing tall, yet leafless. It was a reminder to appreciate these fleeting moments as they are happening. And as you’ve probably noticed, the only constant is change.
While reflecting on that tree this morning, I was reminded of gratitude. Grateful that I could see it when it was bright red, and knowing that in just a few more months, it will spring forth with that yellow-green hint of another season, and the ever-cycling nature will continue.
Have a break filled with reflection and gratitude, and enjoy those fleeting moments.
