Scribing Opportunity for Undergrads

Clarkston Community Health Center (CCHC), a volunteer free clinic in nearby Clarkston, GA, is currently seeking new undergraduate/recent grad volunteers to serve as medical scribes for their Sunday primary care clinic. Serving a population of mostly recent-immigrants and refugees without insurance living in Clarkston, CCHC is staffed by a dedicated team of volunteer community physicians, Emory medical and nursing students, as well as other community stakeholders.

Volunteer shifts are from 9am-3pm; no weekly commitment necessary, as volunteers can sign up for shifts whichever weekends they are free and there are availabilities. Past CCHC scribes have since moved on to other opportunities like medical school and nursing school, and used their volunteering as a way to gain valuable clinical experience hours that are sought after for applications. Highly motivated scribes that demonstrate their dedication to CCHC through consistent volunteering may be eligible to receive a Letter of Recommendation from one of the volunteer physicians, including some that work at Emory.

Given that they are a free clinic staffed by volunteers, preference will be given to those already trained in scribing, though those that are untrained are still encouraged to apply.

Interested? Send your contact information, a brief summary of your qualifications (i.e. any prior clinical experience, language(s) spoken), and a brief statement of interest (only 1-2 paragraphs necessary) to one of the Emory medical student coordinators of the clinic, Stephen Gurley.
