Opportunities with Manna Project International

Manna Project International, a 501(c)3 organization specializing in holistic international development in Latin America is seeking applicants for their intern, Program Director, and short-term volunteer positions.

MPI offers unique 1 week -13 month long service learning and leadership opportunities in Ecuador for students and recent grads interested in pursuing careers in, but not limited to, international development, Latin American studies, global health, education, international affairs, and international business. Program Director: Join MPI as a 5, 7, 12, or 13-month Program Director and work alongside other young leaders and local community members to implement community development programs focused on improving health, education, and livelihoods. Program Directors will gain hands-on international and community development experience, develop new professional skills, improve your Spanish, immerse yourself in a new culture, and build amazing new relationships. 3-months Assistant Program Director positions are also available.

Summer Internship: Join MPI for 4 to 8 weeks this summer as an intern. You will work alongside Program Directors to implement various community programs and gain hands-on international development experience. Your weeks will be busy helping to plan and execute programs, but on weekends you'll have the chance to travel the country and experience all of the beauty and adventure that Ecuador has to offer.

Short Term Volunteers: Looking for something meaningful to do over your Spring Break, Fall Break, or Winter Break? Join MPI for a week-long volunteer experience in Ecuador. They will work with your group to design a project that utilizes your skills and passions to address a need in the communities they serve. You will also get to experience some of the local country on a fun weekend excursion.

ADEA Educational Pathways Student Internship

The ADEA Educational Pathways student internship is a five-week stipend-supported internship working with staff at ADEA in Washington, DC. The intern will be assigned to special projects. The internship is open to any pre-dental  student who is interested in learning about and contributing to initiatives that benefit individuals who are interested in becoming members of the dental professions. The student intern will receive a $5,500 stipend to cover housing, travel and other expenses for the period of the internship.  

The ADEA Educational Pathways Student Internship provides a unique opportunity to learn about ADEA’s four centralized application services and support various recruitment programs and initiatives, including ADEA GoDental. This internship is designed to help students engage in initiatives to increase interest in the dental professions.

AACOMAS 2020 Application Cycle Info

The American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) is pleased to share that the 2020 AACOMAS application cycle will open for submissions on Thursday, May 2, 2019. Medical Schools will begin to receive applicant data from AACOMAS on Friday, June 14, 2019.

The initial application fee remains flat at $195 for the primary application and one college designation and $45 for each additional college designation.

The Personal Statement Character length has increased from 4,500 characters to 5,300 characters.

Applicants are encouraged to explore the 35 colleges of osteopathic medicine and their pages in the Student Guide to Osteopathic Medical Colleges. In the coming months, AACOM is thrilled to be launching an online search database as a companion to the Student Guide to Osteopathic Medical Colleges. This database will allow prospective applicants to view and compare colleges of osteopathic medicine through key data points, such as location, campus setting, dual degrees and more.

Undergraduate Research Opportunity

A graduate student in the Math Department is currently recruiting motivated undergraduate students interested in data science, machine learning, statistics, cryptography, and/or data mining to join a citizen science outreach project advised by Professor Ymir Vigfusson.
 
Interested students may have the option of pursuing independent research projects using data collected for the outreach project. No prior experience in coding or any of the areas above is required. Students from all areas of study are welcome.
 
The project is expected to last until September and interested students may participate remotely during the summer.
